Eta Lambda Chapter benefits from alumni involvement in two ways: Eta Lambda House Corporation, the entity which owns and manages the Chapter house, and a Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) that interacts with and advises the chapter on a day-to-day basis. We are grateful to all of these men who serve as stewards of our property and of our chapter. Their hours of service to Theta Chi and Eta Lambda Chapter are much appreciated.
Eta Lambda House Corporation
Many fraternity and sorority chapters across the country are owned by local corporations, commonly called a “house corporation”. Often managed by alumni volunteers, a house corporation plays a very important role in the continued existence and well being of a chapter in the Fraternity. The typical house corporation is a 501(c)(7) not-for-profit corporation and performs one or more of the following functions:
- Manages real estate for the chapter
- Leases the chapter house to the undergraduate chapter
- Responsible for the physical plant
- Maintains the equipment and furnishings
- Anticipates future housing needs
- Maintains accurate financial information
- Enters into contracts when applicable
- Secures adequate levels of insurance
- Assures that any applicable tax returns are filed properly and taxes are paid
- Hires and supervises any House Corporation employees
The Eta Lambda House Corporation owns and manages The Ranch. It is governed by a team of Theta Chi alumni who volunteer their time to make sure that the facility provides a safe living environment that supports the educational activities of our undergraduate brothers. These are the alumni who currently serve on the Board of Directors for our House Corporation:
